Ceramides: Ceramide III

INCI: CERAMIDE NP
Effect: anti-aging, refining, regenerating, replenishing

Ceramides are essentially lipids (fats) that occur naturally in our skin and make up about 50% of the skin's composition. Ceramides act as a sort of "cement" that holds skin cells together, helping to keep skin supple, hydrated and resilient. By locking moisture into the skin and warding off harmful substances, ceramides support skin health and help prevent dryness, irritation and inflammation. Over time, the natural levels of ceramides in the skin can decrease due to various factors such as aging, environmental stress, excessive cleansing and use of harsh skin care products. This can lead to a weakened skin barrier, which can cause problems such as dryness, itching, redness and skin sensitivities. Care products with ceramides help replenish the skin's ceramide levels, resulting in improved skin hydration, suppleness and a healthier complexion.
